The mission of the non-profit organization is to improve and align technology systems and teaching resources for school districts across the nation. Previously, the client engaged with OmniTI to provide a security and encryption solution that could be implemented across hundreds of machines without sacrificing performance of its student record keeping system. To develop the solution, OmniTI teamed up with Gazzang, a provider of security solutions that help enterprises protect sensitive information and maintain performance in big data and cloud environments.
OmniTI and Gazzang were able to implement a solution that secured the organization’s data in a MongoDB database, worked with the existing Amazon Web Services environment and could be easily deployed across hundreds of machines. By using Gazzang’s zNcrypt™ and zTrustee™, the team was able to transparently encrypt and secure the organization’s data without any changes to its applications or databases ensuring minimal performance lag in the encryption or decryption process. By encrypting student data in the cloud, the client is now able to meet FERPA standards for safeguarding data and provide peace of mind to its school system customers. The organization is also eligible for SOC certifications and has a secure IT architecture that will enable future growth.
