Teachers and Administrators Can Now Assess Learning Outcomes Mastery with Schoology

New Feature Measures Comprehensive Student Competency on Learning Objectives

AUSTIN, Texas--()--Schoology today announced the ability to measure student mastery of learning outcomes and standards, providing unprecedented insight within its comprehensive learning management system (LMS). This latest enhancement to the Enterprise version of Schoology allows it to measure and quantify student learning over time using any learning object (quizzes, homework, projects, and test items) that is aligned to outcomes.

“Schoology continues to evolve as a comprehensive, flexible solution that enables educators and administrators to spend more time focusing on improving student outcomes,” said Jeremy Friedman, CEO of Schoology.

Now with Schoology teachers are able to see an ongoing picture of student competency to determine if students can repeat high-level performance, which is an indication of concept mastery. For K-12 educators, Schoology comes pre-loaded with state and Common Core standards, while custom learning outcomes can be added at any time.

“Standards mastery shouldn’t be tracked in third-party systems or in yet another tool educators must learn in order to gauge mastery,” added Friedman. “For almost a year, teachers have been able to align content and items within Schoology to standards and custom learning outcomes, and today we’ve completed the circle to truly personalized instruction.”

Schoology is already known for integrating and aligning third-party content and instructional resources into one convenient, accessible and easy-to-use platform. It is also a robust communication tool enabling communities of learners and educators to share resources and feedback, and to engage in collaborative projects. Now Schoology helps instructors understand student strengths and weaknesses so they may personalize instruction using comprehensive learning analytics based on standards-aligned content. The new feature highlights include:

  • Flexibility to set baselines for mastery achievement and repetition
  • Ability to measure concept mastery progression over time
  • Learning analytics to evaluate performance and a student’s ability to replicate performance
  • Reports and analytics by standard or by individual student, or across a range of competencies for an entire class

More than four million users at over 50,000 universities, colleges and K-12 schools use Schoology to boost student engagement and streamline curriculum development and management.
