BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Greg Sebasky has been named chief executive officer of Ascend Learning, a leading provider of technology-based learning solutions that efficiently delivers superior student results in healthcare and other professional fields. Ascend provides unique content, software and exceptional student results to healthcare and other high-growth career industries. Sebasky joins Ascend Learning from Philips North America, where he was most recently Chairman of the company’s North American operations. Sebasky succeeds Steve Alesio, Operating Partner at Providence Equity Partners, who had been CEO of Ascend Learning on an interim basis.

Sebasky joined Hewlett Packard in 1982 and assumed roles of increasing responsibility for 15 years, before joining Agilent Technologies as Senior Vice President of Healthcare Services during its spin-off from Hewlett Packard in 1999. At the time, the spin-off was the largest initial public offering in Silicon Valley history. Then, in 2005, he joined Philips Electronics as Senior Vice President & CEO of Global Services where he served for five years before becoming Chairman of Philips North America and Executive Vice President, Business Transformation for Philips Healthcare.
Over the course of his broad healthcare and technology career, Sebasky has consistently and successfully scaled organizations with revenues well in excess of $1 billion, particularly in service-related businesses. He has specialized expertise in understanding what creates value for companies and executing on strategies to achieve that value through consistent, steady and sustainable growth and profitability.
Sebasky, who will assume his duties on February 4, 2014, earned his MBA from Harvard Business School, and graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.B.A. in Accounting.
