ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Leading mobile point-of-sale (POS) device provider Infinite Peripherals, Inc. (IPC) today introduced the Infinea BluePad, a mobile payment solution that includes PIN entry, a contact chip smart card reader and a magnetic stripe reader with Bluetooth connectivity. Compatible with iOS and Android (OS 2.1 or higher), the Infinea BluePad can operate either as a stand-alone mobile device or as a companion to IPC’s mobile peripheral devices, including the Linea Pro® and Infinea Tab,® which work with Apple®’s iPod touch®, iPhone® and iPad®.
“With its stand-alone design and the benefits of Bluetooth connectivity, the Infinea BluePad offers customers a long-term investment – one that is ‘future-proofed’ against ongoing changes to mobile platform hardware,” said Andrew Graham, president of IPC. “Plus, current users of our Linea Pro and Infinea Tab now easily can add PIN pad capability.”
The first company to enable Apple products with mobile POS functionality via the innovative Linea Pro and Infinea Tab, IPC is leading the way with multiple mobile peripheral solutions that are revolutionizing numerous industries, including retail, hospitality, restaurants, transportation and entertainment.
The Infinea BluePad features a tactile keypad with 10 numeric and six functional keys, as well as smart card and magnetic stripe readers with three-track hi-coercivity bi-directional reading capabilities. Bluetooth communications support iAP and Serial Port Profile, and communications are facilitated via a mini-USB connector that supports RS-232. The Infinea BluePad holds important payment security certifications, including the latest PCI PTS 3.x and EMV L1 and L2.
One of the key differentiators that makes the Infinea BluePad product line versatile yet affordable is that IPC does not require a transaction or fee-based contract in order to acquire the device.
IPC offers an easy-to-use software development kit (SDK) for the Infinea BluePad for both iOS and Android platforms that can simplify and expedite the time it takes to integrate the product with other POS systems and gateways. The Infinea BluePad can be used for mobile payments in the U.S., Canada, Europe and some Latin American countries, and a Near Field Communication (NFC) version of the Infinea BluePad will be available in 2014.
