(OTC: LINK), a global leader in sensor and human-machine interface technologies, today is pleased to announce that Dr. Albert Lu will join the company on February 3, 2014 in the re-defined role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Effective December 9, 2013, Dr. Jeff Baker assumed the newly formed role of Chief Scientific Officer (CSO). As CTO, Dr. Lu’s responsibilities will include developing strategic technology and product roadmaps, identifying synergistic R&D partnerships and funding opportunities, leading the internal R&D team, and maintaining Interlink Electronics’ competitive advantage in the human-machine interface technology landscape. In his role as CSO, Dr. Baker will focus on basic research and developing technology demonstrators for new product applications, further improve product performance through sophisticated modeling and characterization initiatives, and work closely with the Sales team to align customer needs with our technical product solutions. Dr. Lu will be based in Singapore and Dr. Baker will continue to be based in Interlink Electronics’ corporate headquarters in Camarillo, California. The CTO and CSO will represent Interlink Electronics’ technical/scientific face in the public domain, and will collectively drive the expansion of our technology portfolios. Dr. Baker and Dr. Lu will both report to Dr. Howard Goldberg, the President and COO of Interlink Electronics.

For over 15 years, Dr. Albert Lu has made significant R&D contributions to the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech), which develops high-value manufacturing technology and human capital to enhance the competitiveness of Singapore's manufacturing industry. SIMTech is a research institute of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). Dr. Lu’s most recent role was Program Manager of Large Area Processing Program, where he established and spearheaded Singapore’s key R&D facility and pilot line for roll-to-roll manufacturing of functional films and printed electronics. In his other technology leadership roles at SIMTech, Dr. Lu has orchestrated R&D collaborations and industry consortia in disruptive and emerging technology platforms that included embedded passives, broadband communications, and electronics packaging with multinational corporations and local enterprises. Dr. Lu earned both Ph.D. and B. Eng. in electrical engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology in the U.K. Dr. Lu also received the Lee Kuan Yew Award for Mathematics and Science in Singapore and the Institution of Electrical Engineers Prize in the U.K.

Since joining Interlink Electronics over 13 years ago, Dr. Jeff Baker has made significant contributions to the Company’s technology and product portfolio growth in the roles of CTO, VP R&D, and VP Product Development. During Dr. Baker’s tenure at Interlink Electronics the patent portfolio has more than doubled in size, and he has been designated as the first inventor on ten worldwide patents and applications. Dr. Baker's contributions also helped achieve the successful business re-structuring initiative that was launched in 2011 by our CEO Steven N. Bronson. Prior to joining Interlink Electronics, Dr. Baker was a post-doctoral fellow at both the Tokyo Institute of Technology and the Risoe National Laboratory in Denmark, he earned a Ph.D. in physics from Florida State University, and a B.S. in physics from Jacksonville University.

"Interlink Electronics has reached a point in its growth trajectory, where it needs both a CSO and CTO to synergistically drive the product R&D and scientific initiatives as well as develop the strategic R&D partnerships and roadmaps that will fuel the next phases of growth," stated Howard D. Goldberg, Ph.D., President and COO of Interlink Electronics. Dr. Goldberg continued, "Interlink Electronics is proud to have both Dr. Albert Lu and Dr. Jeff Baker, as members of its executive team as they both are very accomplished and respected technology leaders. We are excited to have Dr. Lu join our team to further enhance our reputation as a leader in printed electronics technology and to strengthen our strategic footprint in the rapidly expanding Asia-Pacific region. We are also happy to announce Dr. Baker’s promotion to the CSO role as an acknowledgement of his significant technical contributions to the Company over many years.”
