Transplace President George Abernathy Adds Chief Commercial Officer Role

Leading Logistics and Technology Company Executives to Further Drive Operational Excellence, Outstanding Customer Service

DALLAS--()--Transplace, a leading provider of transportation management services and logistics technology, today announced Transplace President George Abernathy will add the role of chief commercial officer to his responsibilities. Abernathy will focus on growth of the brokerage and international (i.e., Mexico, Canada, freight forwarding) business units. Frank McGuigan is promoted to president of transportation management and will manage the contract logistics business, strategic account management and consulting. The change further supports Transplace’s commitment to continued growth and operational improvement, and allows CEO Tom Sanderson to focus on Transplace and partner company Celtic International’s long-term goals and strategic growth.

As president and chief commercial officer, Abernathy will continue managing the company’s traditional brokerage services, and he will use his leadership experience to target and grow brokerage capabilities externally. As president of transportation management, McGuigan will be responsible for leading the company’s operations and will assume responsibility of Transplace’s sales and consulting and engineering units. McGuigan joined Transplace via its acquisition of SCO Logistics in April 2011, and most recently served as the company’s chief operating officer. McGuigan has more than 20 years of logistics experience in executive leadership, sales and operations, and his career achievements have been focused on the development and implementation of value-based, logistics solutions across the supply chain for Fortune 500 companies.

“I am pleased to announce George Abernathy’s additional responsibility as chief commercial officer and Frank McGuigan’s promotion to president of transportation management. In the past decade, George has built exceptional sales, marketing and operations units that have made a substantial impact in growing Transplace into the premier provider of transportation management and logistics technology. With his new focus, I expect he will do the same for our brokerage and international practices,” said Sanderson. “Since Frank joined Transplace during our acquisition of SCO Logistics, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and operational excellence, and has proven his ability to take on greater management opportunity and responsibility. Under his direction, Transplace’s contract logistics business will continue exceeding customer expectations by delivering innovative solutions and outstanding service.”
