PROVIDENCE, R.I.--()--The single largest piece of undeveloped property in Providence, RI is the centerpiece of an historic transformation of the City’s skyline.

Called The LINK, the property can support up to 3 million square feet of mixed-use premier commercial space, vibrant retail and restaurants, residences and hospitality development. Landscaped and programmed parks (8 acres) and a dynamically designed pedestrian bridge have full funding and will be complete in 2015-2016.

The LINK is made up of 17 parcels (19 acres), which were reclaimed with the moving of the I-195 highway.

Called The LINK, the land arches around the City’s downtown and abuts the riverfront, linking the past to the future, downtown to the river, and urban living to workplaces.

For developers and businesses, The LINK is offering pad-ready sites with new state-of-the-art cyber-infrastructure, upgraded and new water, electric and gas lines, and new streets and sidewalks.

A predictable expedited process is in place for development. The LINK is controlled by the 195 Redevelopment District Commission. For the 17 developable parcels, the Commission has:

  • Full ownership
  • An environmental master permit
  • Full authority for proposal review and zoning relief

With universal political and public support, The LINK is preparing a Request for Information (RFI) for prospective developers and businesses. It is estimated permitting time of only three or four months for approved proposals.

Situated along the Northeast Corridor, with a growing knowledge economy fed by Rhode Island’s 11 colleges and universities, Providence’s The LINK provides a strategically advantageous and highly desirable location for businesses of all sizes. The capital city is no more than a thirty-minute drive from Rhode Island’s many attractions, including stellar beaches, Newport’s mansions, vineyards and farms. Providence has the scale, charm and convenience of a small city but with a dense urban core, as well as proximity and rail access to New York City and Boston.

About: The I-195 Redevelopment District Commission was created in late 2011 to serve as the responsible authority for the sale, marketing and oversight of the 19 acres made available in Providence as a result of the relocation of Interstate 195. It offers a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a dynamic center in Providence for people to work, live and recreate.
