Wynright Promotes Kerry Phillips to Chief Operating Officer, Projects

New position created to help intelligent material handling systems provider manage influx of large, complex projects while maximizing efficiency and client satisfaction

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill.--()--Citing an unprecedented influx of large, complex projects, Wynright Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Daifuku Webb and a leading U.S.-based provider of intelligent material handling systems, today announced the promotion of Kerry Phillips to the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer, Projects.

Formerly divisional president, engineering and integration at Wynright, Phillips will use his managerial and engineering expertise to maximize efficiency and ensure the best resources are assigned to each project across the enterprise. Creating this position gives Wynright the ability to place executive-level focus on the execution of all its projects to ensure the company is delivering the best possible post-sale results in an area that continues to be one of its strengths.

“Wynright has many engineering divisions spread out across different vertical markets and geographies,” said Kevin Ambrose, CEO of Wynright Corporation. “Having Kerry in this position will make it easier to take the best practices and experiences from each of those divisions and propagate them across the entire team. Ultimately, the client benefits, but the team members benefit too. This cross-functional approach also provides the engineering team the opportunity to participate in a broader scope of work, varied challenges, and enhancement of their personal knowledge.”

Wynright places a great deal of emphasis on helping employees in all areas improve their skills and develop a career path that allows them to advance. The company is also dedicated to hiring talent where it lives rather than requiring everyone within a functional area to work in a particular office. While it does allow Wynright to bring in and retain the best and brightest, the policy can make it more difficult to maximize the efficiency and capabilities of its employees if not managed effectively. With so many large, complex projects launching, the company felt the time was right to have one person overseeing its large engineering team.

“Kerry knows the Wynright organization well and understands how to maximize the effectiveness of the solutions we routinely design for our clients,” Ambrose said. “We know he’s the right person to help us balance the workload and continue to deliver results that delight our clients.”
