True Religion Appoints Mary Alderete as Chief Marketing Officer

Strategic brand architect brings years of experience in building style icons for the future

VERNON, Calif.--()--True Religion Apparel, Inc. today announced that the company has appointed Mary Alderete as Chief Marketing Officer, effective November 18. In this role, Ms. Alderete will shape the marketing strategy for True Religion across the company’s retail, wholesale, international and e-commerce platforms. She will report to Chief Executive Officer David Conn.

“Mary brings a strategic mindset to True Religion and will be the architect of our branding and marketing going forward,” said David Conn, Chief Executive Officer, True Religion. “We will benefit from her deep experience building iconic denim brands and from her genuine understanding of how to connect with and engage consumers.” Mr. Conn continued, “Mary is a natural fit with True Religion and will work closely with our leadership team to make True Religion culturally and personally relevant to customers.”

Mary Alderete was previously Vice President of Global Brand Marketing at Levi Strauss & Co., where she was instrumental in reigniting the brand. During her time at Levi’s®, she created an innovative, multi-year marketing campaign leveraging digital platforms to engage consumers to personalize, share and amplify the brand narrative. Ms. Alderete was also responsible for reinvigorating the women’s business with a global launch of a proprietary fit system. Prior to her time at Levi’s®, she held senior marketing roles at Gap, Inc. with Banana Republic and Old Navy. Ms. Alderete has also held senior positions at marketing agencies including BBDO West and Foote, Cone & Belding, where she led strategy and campaign development for brands such as Amazon.com, Kraft and Clorox.

True Religion has also named Ilene Eskenazi as Chief Legal Officer and Senior Vice President of Human Resources, effective December 2. She will report to Chief Executive Officer David Conn. Ms. Eskenazi joins from Red Bull North America, Inc., where she served as General Counsel and Vice President of Human Resources. She previously practiced law at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Proskauer Rose LLP. She holds a JD from The University of California at Los Angeles School of Law.
