Everbridge Awarded "Optional Use" Contract by Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) for Emergency Notification Services

GLENDALE, Calif.--()--Everbridge, the leading provider of critical communication solutions, today announced that it will provide emergency alert services for the Commonwealth of Virginia, including localities, higher education, and K-12 organizations, as part of an "optional use" contract with the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA). Under the agreement, all Virginia public organizations can use Everbridge to send emergency notifications via emails, texts, and phone calls and alert emergency responders to activate during crises.

VITA is offering a cost-effective, streamlined procurement process that allows Virginia's state and county governments to take advantage of Everbridge citizen alerting and employee notification capabilities. The VITA contract is designed to eliminate equipment and maintenance costs, reduce paperwork, and ultimately is a procurement vehicle that will result in savings for the Commonwealth of Virginia, both in procurement efficiency and in the costs of emergency alert and notification services.

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management is the first user of the contract and plans on utilizing Everbridge for employee notifications during emergencies. Everbridge contacts workers and citizens based on the contact information they provide, according to their preferences, and stops sending messages after respondents confirm receipt.
