VitalWare Selects Atigeo’s xPatterns Cloud Analytics Platform for Clinical Coding

Innovative healthcare partners helping physicians achieve complete documentation for accurate coding and billing

YAKIMA, Wash.--()--VitalWare™, the leader in delivering healthcare intelligence for coding and documentation accuracy, announces today a partnership with Atigeo™, a compassionate technology company for a wiser planet. VitalWare and Atigeo will work together to help physicians achieve complete documentation for accurate coding and billing. VitalWare embedded xPatterns Clinical Auto-Coding (C.A.C.) into their CDiDocuMint application to analyze customers’ medical records in a concurrent state to identify missing documentation based on ICD-10 guidelines.

“We are excited about our partnership with Atigeo. Their innovative platform technology and xPatterns Clinical Auto-Coding application are a perfect fit for our Sherpa Physician Documentation Ontology™ (PDO) engine. This combination will provide superior documentation intelligence for our customers at ‘the speed of the cloud,’ where our customers can simply submit records securely without integration challenges,” said Kerry Martin, CEO of VitalWare. “Under ICD-10, it is a given that physician productivity will be compromised due to the increase in documentation requirements. Our combined technologies will improve physician productivity by guiding physicians to document missing concepts to ensure accurate, specific and complete code assignment.”

Built by physicians for physicians, Sherpa PDO, the cutting-edge, proprietary, concept-based ontology for medical documentation, represents over three years of development. Sherpa was designed to bridge the gaps between today’s documentation practices and the documentation requirements needed to ensure accurate, specific and complete code assignment using ICD-10. The xPatterns platform combines the advantages of cloud computing, big data infrastructure, advanced analytics and enterprise-grade web applications. xPatterns C.A.C. is a cloud-based, HIPAA-compliant application built on the platform to improve the efficiency, accuracy and revenue capture of coding and billing within healthcare organizations as well as enable internal chart auditing.

“There is enormous room for improvement in clinical documentation and matters will only get more complex under the new ICD-10 coding standards; healthcare organizations need innovative and compliant solutions to ensure accurate documentation while reducing costs,” said Michael Sandoval, chairman and CEO of Atigeo. “I’m excited to work with VitalWare to extend their Physician Documentation Ontology engine, Sherpa, with xPatterns C.A.C. Our combined strengths will produce a best of class ICD-10 solution.”
