SaaS-based tool developed for physical and virtual data center migrations contains new and enhanced features such as interactive dependency maps and automated generation of runbooks

Data Center World Fall 2013

ORLANDO, Fla.--()--Transitional Data Services (TDS), a technology consultation company that provides independent assessments, improvements and operational support for IT, today announced the availability of its TDS TransitionManager 3.0 at AFCOM’s Data Center World. The new updates to TransitionManager include improved dependency analysis, automation of runbook generation, enhanced real-time executive dashboards and extended asset management features.

TDS TransitionManager is the industry's premier data center migration solution, and was built specifically to provide a complete set of best practices for planning and managing all aspects of both physical and virtual data center migrations. By providing all participants with real-time visibility into all relocation activities, TDS TransitionManager improves communications and encourages collaboration across the team, resulting in accelerated migrations while also reducing the risk of unplanned outages.

TransitionManager 3.0 enables enhanced migration analysis and planning with new features such as interactive dependency maps, which allows IT management and business experts to quickly understand the relationships between applications, servers, databases, storage and other IT assets in a graphical format. Automated creation of move-day runbooks, with intelligent resource leveling, dramatically increases the efficiency of both planning and executing data center migrations. In addition, room and rack layouts now provide enhanced capabilities such as ongoing space and power utilization tracking and reporting. The SaaS-based application integrates mobile devices on the data center floor with extensive customized command and control capabilities and executive dashboards to deliver real-time move-day status.

“As today’s data center becomes an increasing mix of interconnected applications, the new features of TransitionManager 3.0 helps enterprises adapt to the new normal of accelerated change in the virtual data center,” said Michael E. Bullock, President and co-founder of TDS. “The flexible, graphical representations of data and automation of runbooks make for efficient, thorough planning. We look forward to better serving our customers and ensuring optimal organization for data center operators through TDS TransitionManager 3.0.”

More information about the features in TransitionManager 3.0 is available at TDS’ booth #733 at Data Center World through October 2.
