Alcoa Executive Rosa Garcia Pineiro Recognized as a “Woman Worth Watching”

NEW YORK--()--Rosa Garcia Pineiro, Director of Regional Affairs and Sustainability for Alcoa (NYSE:AA) in Europe, was selected as a 2014 Women Worth Watching by Profiles in Diversity Journal, a U.S.-based magazine focused on diversity and inclusion in business, government, nonprofit organizations, higher education, and the military. The 12th annual issue honors more than 150 executives and the organizations that recognize, employ, and promote women in the workforce.

“Throughout her career at Alcoa, Rosa has been committed to developing women leaders within her organization and across the company,” said Daniel Cruise, Alcoa Vice President, Public & Government Affairs and Business Development. “Rosa lives Alcoa's values. Her deep community involvement, her multiple mentoring roles and strong work ethic makes her most deserving of this recognition.”

“Rising to the role of Director, Regional Affairs and Sustainability for Europe in a male-dominated industry was no easy feat,” said Pineiro. “It is important to be aware of your skill sets and value, not because you are a woman, but because you are smart and competent.

“Education has been an incredible asset in my career. Even today I embrace any learning opportunity and encourage my colleagues to do the same,” Pineiro added.

Pineiro holds a masters degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Vigo (Spain), a masters degree in Environmental Engineering from Escuela de Organización Industrial (Madrid) and an Executive MBA from the University of Geneva.

Alcoa has a strong presence in Europe. In 2012, approximately 17,000 European Alcoa employees represented 25% of Alcoa’s global revenues.
