NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Learningpod™, a startup that provides free practice test questions online, has launched just in time for the new school year.
Learningpod's open platform lets students answer questions and see corresponding explanations on a growing number of subjects and tests. Permissive licensing makes it easy for teachers and tutors to create, remix and share questions on any topic.
The library already boasts over 20,000 questions that have mostly been contributed by leaders in the field, including Kaplan Test Prep, Manhattan Prep, OpenStax College, National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), Saylor Foundation, and the Council for Economic Education.
"We know that practicing questions is one of the most effective ways of learning," said Jean Seok, the company’s CEO. "That's why we’re working with educators and partners to build the largest free collection of practice questions in the world."
On the Learningpod site, registered members can create question sets – called "pods" – and see how well they did against their peers on each question.
"Right now we’re busy converting thousands of additional questions for our library, but even that’s just a start," said Jean. "It's ultimately the learning community – dedicated educators and determined students – that will give the platform true richness and depth."
Learningpod also encourages developers to create innovative educational apps using its platform API. The company recently released its first app in partnership with Manhattan Prep. Called Pocket GMAT, the iOS app helps students prep for the GMAT exam with flashcards.
The platform has been in beta since April, after having been started as an internal initiative at Kaplan Test Prep.
