Samuel Estreicher, Leading Authority on Labor and Employment Law, Joins Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP

NEW YORK--()--Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP ("SRZ") today announced the addition of Samuel Estreicher as Of Counsel in the employment and employee benefits group in the firm’s New York office. He will maintain his faculty position at New York University, where he is the Dwight D. Opperman Professor of Law, the director of the Center for Labor and Employment Law, as well as co-director of the Opperman Institute of Judicial Administration.

Mr. Estreicher's practice will focus on the full range of issues affecting the employment relationship, including designing ADR and compliance systems, advising clients in OFCCP, EEO and labor relations compliance, and representing clients in individual and class EEO, wage-hour, and employee benefits litigation. He will also advise companies on cross-border and human rights labor and employment issues; and pursue an active appellate practice in the U.S. Supreme Court and other tribunals.

Mr. Estreicher's distinguished career includes having served as chair of the labor committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and secretary of the ABA's labor and employment section. He is the Chief Reporter for the American Law Institute's Restatement Third of Employment Law and a member of the administrative tribunal of the Asian Development Bank. Prior to joining the NYU faculty in 1978, he served as law clerk to Justice Lewis F. Powell, Jr. of the U.S. Supreme Court and Judge Harold Leventhal of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

Mr. Estreicher has published several books including leading casebooks and treatises in labor law, and employment discrimination and employment law. He has received numerous awards, including the Labor and Employment Relations Association's prestigious Susan C. Eaton Outstanding Scholar-Practitioner Award. Human Resource Executive magazine has named him among "The Nation's '50 Most Powerful Employment Attorneys.'" He received his A.B. from Columbia College, his M.S. (labor relations) from Cornell University and his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was editor-in-chief of the Columbia Law Review.
