TORONTO--()--Today at the Canadian Volunteer Fire Services Association (CVFSA) annual general conference Duracell announced that to celebrate the launch of its new Quantum battery it is donating one million of them to first responders across North America. Quantum, the world’s most advanced alkaline battery based on Hi-Density Core™ and PowerCheck™ delivers the unbeatable long-lasting power which first responders need.

"Our top priority is delivering the very best in battery technology for consumers. We’re also aware that first responders need and use batteries in devices that keep them safe in the crucial work they do protecting our families and communities," said Victoria Maybee, communications manager for Duracell Canada. "Duracell’s commitment is to put Quantum power into the hands of first responders and to show our full support for the heroic work they do for all of us."

To direct the one million Duracell Quantum battery donation to the first responder units most in need, Duracell is working with national and local fire, EMT and law enforcement organizations, including the CVFSA in Canada and FEMA in the U.S. These first responder units will use the batteries to power their life-saving equipment, such as breathing apparatuses, flashlights, carbon monoxide (CO), radiation and gas meters, as well as for community outreach around safety.

"Partners like Duracell clearly recognize the dangerous and important work that firefighters and all first responders do all across the country," said Troy Mutch, President of the Canadian Volunteer Fire Services Association. "They know giving first responders the support they need is so critical, which is why they are making such a large donation of Quantum batteries."

Quantum is Duracell’s biggest innovation since the CopperTop battery and is the world’s most-advanced alkaline battery delivering unbeatable, long-lasting power. With its revolutionary Hi-Density Core™ and proprietary PowerCheck™ power indicator, the distinctive red and copper battery has been engineered to deliver exceptional performance.

Duracell Quantum is available now in AA and AAA cell sizes at mass merchandisers, drug and hardware stores nationwide. For more information visit www.Duracell.ca.
