MINNETONKA, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Medica and Novu today launched an innovative online portal, www.novu.com/join/medica, that provides people enrolled in Medica individual and family plans the opportunity to earn rewards by setting and reaching health and wellness goals as well as discounts on health club memberships. The program is available at no charge to all Medica individual and family plan members (http://bit.ly/MP9erz).
Enrolling in the Medica-Novu platform enables plan members to create personalized wellness programs that take into account their fitness levels and interests, nutrition and overall life balance. The portal recommends tailored health and wellness programs that feature customized coaching, nutrition and fitness goals that can be achieved in specific, manageable steps.
Each program lasts up to two weeks. After participants complete a program, they may continue in that program or select one at a more advanced level. Members also can work on more than one program at a time. Members even have the option to join or create social groups in which they can gauge each other’s activity, encourage their peers and give advice about healthy living.
As members reach milestones in their program, they receive reward points that can be used as discounts at restaurants, retail stores, local services, and health and wellness products. They also can use the rewards to be entered into a raffle prize drawing or parlay into a contribution to a charitable organization.
Enrollment in the Medica-Novu program also provides members with discounts on health club memberships, including such things as free consultations with certified trainers and extended trial memberships. This fall, additional programs will be available through the Medica-Novu platform. These include smoking cessation, sleep management and financial health.
To help participants meet their goals, the health platform suggests daily activities and educational aides including educational videos, audio tips and checklists. Members can sign up for daily reminder emails or will see the tips when they log in.
