Gavain McDonald Joins Airclic to Help Customers Take Advantage of Dynamic, Cloud-Based Route Planning and Optimization

McDonald Will Guide Customer Adoption and Implementation of Airclic’s Perform for Route Planning and Optimization Solution

TREVOSE, Pa.--()--Airclic, a global provider of cloud-based software that transforms the accuracy, efficiency and competitiveness of mobile supply chain and logistics operations, today announced it has recruited logistics and routing specialist Gavain McDonald to lead the company’s route planning and optimization practice as Director of Route Optimization Solutions.

With more than 13 years of focused supply chain execution and management, lean logistics, Six Sigma and route planning and optimization experience, McDonald brings to Airclic a proven track record of overseeing major route optimization and cost reduction implementations across organizations of all sizes. In his new role, he is responsible for helping customers take advantage of the operational efficiencies and cost savings made possible by Airclic’s recently announced Perform for Route Optimization and Planning (RPO) solution.

McDonald began his logistics career as a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force. Following his time in the military, he became an area distribution operations manager for Lennox Industries, where his work on a strategic distribution optimization project received broad acclaim, becoming a national role model. McDonald also served as director of route engineering at Hostess Brands in Irving, Texas, overseeing optimization initiatives for nearly 40 bakeries and 600 distribution centers that represented more than 5,500 sales routes.

“With tightening industry and government regulations, rising fuel costs and increasingly small customer delivery windows, today’s companies need contemporary technologies that enable them to plan and optimize driver routes and better align their transportation assets and resources,” said McDonald. “Airclic’s solution enables logistics organizations to ensure excellence, accountability and customer satisfaction. I look forward to helping customers find ways to lower expenses and improve efficiencies across their entire organization.”

Logistics operations that do not use route optimization and scheduling technologies, or that leverage static routing algorithms in dynamic logistics environments, can force drivers to spend more time than absolutely necessary on the road, incurring higher fuel and back office costs as a result. Airclic's dynamic solution enables customers to hone in on route-related issues in real time, easily managing end-to-end logistics operations in the cloud.

“Gavain has a proven track record of helping large, complex organizations achieve maximum benefit from their route optimization processes, finding impressive cost and time savings where no one else had,” said Mike Lee, CEO of Airclic. “His expertise will help our customers revolutionize their logistics operations with Airclic’s industry-leading mobile supply chain optimization and execution technology.”

McDonald currently resides in Dallas, Texas. He has a MS in Logistics Management from the United States Air Force Institute of Technology.
