SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Scottsdale Insurance Company®, a leader in the excess and surplus and specialty lines arena, named George Spedding as Vice President of Claims, replacing Susan Wain upon her retirement. Spedding will provide leadership and strategic direction to the Scottsdale claim organization, including Scottsdale Insurance Company, Freedom Specialty Insurance Company and Western Heritage Insurance Company.
Spedding has a broad claim background with more than 33 years in the insurance industry, including significant experience in commercial claims as well as a proven leadership track record. He joined Nationwide® in 2000 as an Associate Casualty Claim Director and progressed to Claim Director and Associate Vice President. In his most recent role as Associate Vice President, Commercial Claims, he was responsible for leading the Nationwide Commercial East operations.

Prior to joining Nationwide, George spent 20 years in key claim positions with Liberty Mutual, Alexsis Risk Management, Chubb and Son, and CGU Insurance. George also holds a Bachelor of Science from the Alderson-Broaddus College, Philippi, W.Va., in Business and Public Administration.
