TYSONS CORNER, Va.--()--Cardinal Bank (NASDAQ: CFNL) announced today that the Cardinal Bank Community Fund has awarded a $1,000 grant to the City of Fairfax Band Association. From its first concert played on the steps of City Hall in summer 1969, the volunteer community band of professional and amateur musicians has grown from a summer-season ensemble to a regionally recognized 220-member association, consisting of two adult bands, one youth band, and six small ensembles, that perform classical and band favorites throughout the Washington metropolitan area.

Cardinal Executive Vice President and board member Eleanor Schmidt presented the check to Robert Pouliot, Music Director, for the City of Fairfax Band Association, and Andrea Hsu, flautist and student winner of the Association’s 2013 Young Artist Competition.

“The City of Fairfax Band Association provides a great band repertoire through its nine performing groups that is enjoyed at concerts, festivals, and ceremonial events across Fairfax County and throughout the region,” said F. Kevin Reynolds, Cardinal Bank Regional President. “But their impact is deepened through their educational programs. Their effort to encourage musical education in our communities with their All Students Free policy supports musical growth and nurtures young talent among students. The Cardinal Bank Community Fund is delighted to support the Association’s commitment to community engagement that extends beyond the caliber of their band performances.”

Through its grant program, the Cardinal Bank Community Fund has directly benefited more than 80 local organizations and service programs since its inception, keeping sight of the Fund’s mission and Cardinal’s deep commitment to giving back to the communities where we live, work, and raise our families. Cardinal employees also donate generously of their time to community organizations throughout the region.
