Expect Miracles Foundation Expands National Appeal and Reach

BOSTON--()--Expect Miracles Foundation – Financial Services Against Cancer has been selected as one of the three beneficiaries of the 24th Annual American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament. The American Century Championship will be held July 19-21, 2013 at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. More than 80 of the biggest sports and entertainment stars will be present, and the event will be televised live on NBC and NBC Sports Network.

Proceeds from the tournament directed to Expect Miracles Foundation will benefit cancer patient care initiatives nationwide and cutting-edge cancer research at the Belfer Institute for Applied Cancer Science at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. For 2013, national American Century Championship charity partners include Expect Miracles Foundation, American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, and LIVESTRONG Foundation. As a charity partner, information about Expect Miracles Foundation will be included in the official tournament program and featured in a PSA commercial spot airing during the national television broadcast of the tournament.

“American Century Investments is a company that has shown a steadfast commitment to the global fight against cancer, with their support going well beyond normal business practices of corporate responsibility and charitable giving. They have established a philanthropic model that exemplifies industry excellence. We are honored to be selected as a charity partner by American Century Investments and look forward to expanding our national appeal and reach,” stated Christina E. Thirkell, Executive Director of Expect Miracles Foundation.

Expect Miracles Foundation and American Century Investments’ partnership began over three years ago when American Century Investments first sponsored the Expect Miracles Awards. The Expect Miracles Awards are presented annually in NYC at the Institutional Investor’s Mutual Fund Industry Awards and are given to individuals and firms within the financial community who have demonstrated commitment to the fight against cancer. In 2010, the James E. Stowers Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award was established, further exemplifying the shared values between American Century Investments and Expect Miracles Foundation.

The collaboration between these two organizations has expanded steadily over the years as both organizations share an ideology and are mutually committed to the fight against cancer through corporate philanthropy. As American Century Investments’ unique ownership structure results in more than 40% of its profits being directed toward cancer and gene-based research, Expect Miracles Foundation similarly provides a platform for the financial services industry to raise funds for a cure.
