California Safe Soil Closes on Latest Round of Financing Bringing Total Angel Capital Value to Over $6 Million

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif.--()--California Safe Soil, LLC, (CSS) a privately held 100% sustainable and organic fertilizer manufacturer, today announced closing an additional round of angel financing at a premium valuation to prior rounds. CSS recycles organics from local supermarkets, which are processed in only three hours in a strict, environmentally sensitive manufacturing facility. The resulting liquid fertilizer (called Harvest-to-Harvest, or H2H), is pasteurized for food safety, stabilized for extended shelf life, and emulsified, for ease of application by farmers through existing farm equipment.

CSS has a pilot plant in West Sacramento which is supplied by four major food chain supermarkets in the area. We are working with Dr. Edwin Lewis of UC Davis, testing H2H on over 40 farms and numerous agricultural products in California. The additional investment will allow CSS to complete the tests and begin commercial operations later this year. Presently, tests on strawberries have shown a 40% increase in yield over conventional fertilizers, resulting in potential superior returns to farmers, according to a recent study by Dr. Surendra Dara of the UC Cooperative Extension. Tests in progress on tomatoes, grapes, almonds, citrus, leafy greens, and other crops, similarly show promise for increased crop yield and quality.

The use of H2H can help significantly cut farmers’ use of conventional chemical fertilizers, reducing nitrate runoff into lakes and streams by as much as two-thirds. That’s a ‘win-win’ for farmers and the environment, helping farmers address concerns raised by state regulatory agencies to reduce nitrate runoff, and consumer demand for more sustainable farming practices.

About CSS - CSS provides a unique full-cycle process that will assist our supermarket customers to recycle their organics, improve store hygiene, and reduce costs, while helping our agricultural customers save money, increase crop yields and reduce nitrate runoff. We are committed to recycling supermarket organics into a safe, easy to use, low cost, high volume, and high quality fertilizer, H2H. As a result, we will greatly improve our air, water and soil environment, while employing safe, efficient, and effective solutions that meet the needs of our customers.
