ORANGE, Calif.--()--Don Goldmann, vice president of Word & Brown University at the Word & Brown® General Agency, has been elected vice president of the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU). For the past two years, Goldmann has served as secretary on NAHU’s board of trustees; he is also a past president of the California Association of Health Underwriters.

Goldmann’s election was announced at NAHU’s 83rd Annual Convention and Exhibition in Atlanta. Also at that meeting Goldmann received the organization’s Distinguished Service Award honoring his “significant contributions to volunteer service at the local, state and national level.” In presenting the award NAHU said that Goldman’s efforts “have greatly improved the health insurance industry through an extraordinary commitment of time, talents and professional experience.”

“NAHU is the leading resource to find the best solutions for establishing a healthy, financially stable American healthcare system,” Goldmann said. “I’m excited to take on this role with an organization so dedicated to making this happen.”

Nationally recognized for his in-depth analysis of the healthcare insurance market, Goldmann’s career spans more than 30 years. He joined Word & Brown in 2006 as national vice president of sales and led the project to expand the Word & Brown General Agency nationally.

As vice president of Word & Brown University, Goldmann develops and implements training programs for brokers entering the business, continuing education programs for experienced brokers, and motivational presentations for all industry professionals. Earlier this year he conducted a series of nine seminars throughout California to help position health insurance brokers for success in the changing health insurance marketplace. He also spoke at Word & Brown’s highly acclaimed 2013 Health Reform Summit, conducting a continuing education course focused on the latest news concerning the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

Goldmann received a bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University and a master’s in business communications from the University of Michigan. Throughout his three-decade career he has held executive-level positions with CIMS, Group Benefits Plus, MetLife and FHP. He is one of the industry’s most highly sought-after speakers and frequent contributor to national, state and local journals for health and life underwriters, CPA societies, societies for financial planners, life insurance company office management groups, employee benefit associations, top-producer conferences, and other trade and community organizations.
