Libyan Minister of Oil & Gas Addresses Energy Executives at Bilateral Chamber Forum

HOUSTON--()--His Excellency Dr. Abdulbari Ali Arousi, Minister of Oil & Gas for the State of Libya was the keynote speaker this week at a breakfast briefing as part of The Insight to MENA Leadership Series hosted by The Bilateral US-Arab Chamber of Commerce during the annual Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in HoustonDr. Arousi discussed plans for reconstructing Libya’s energy sector after emerging from the revolution of the past few years.

“We’re looking to strengthen our relationships with U.S. companies and are committed to improving transparency, safety and improving the environment in our country,” said H.E. Dr. Arousi. “Libya is now well-poised to reclaim its place among the world’s largest oil producers.”

With $100 billion worth of projects in place, 41.1 billion barrels in oil reserves, and 52.8 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, Libya is a major source of energy for the Mediterranean region. Dr. Arousi addressed the delegates on how U.S. businesses can support the rebuilding of the industry through production, refining, pipelines and export facilities.

“It was a pleasure to receive His Excellency Dr. Abdulbari Ali Arousi, and arrange his Chairman-level meetings with some of America’s largest international oil and service companies,” said David L. Phillips, Chairman of the Board of the Bilateral US-Arab Chamber of Commerce. “Most of these IOC Chairmen received His Excellency at their headquarters for detailed hydrocarbon-related meetings to display new technologies, discuss best practices for health, safety and environment stewardship, and conduct private business meetings to strengthen existing relationships and develop new ones for future opportunities in Libya.”
