The Head Monster Honors the Innovators of Tomorrow in St. Louis

The four K-12 robotics competitions in Dean Kamen’s FIRST® program are designed to help inspire and motivate students in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subjects, helping spark young peoples' interest in becoming tomorrow’s technology leaders and innovators. Head Monster Noel Lee, a 1971 graduate of Cal Poly College of Engineering and a former design engineer at Lawrence-Livermore Laboratory, has always been passionate about technology and innovation. His background as a technology pioneer who always “thinks outside the box” has led him to create many groundbreaking innovations, including the world’s first true high-performance audio cable. In recent years, Noel literally redefined the high-performance headphone category when he engineered and tuned the acclaimed Beats™ by Dr. Dre™ headphone sound.

Says Lee: "As someone with a fascination for technology and science from a very young age, I was delighted years ago when I first heard about Dean Kamen’s FIRST program and its ability to motivate young people in important STEM subjects and build the foundation for future careers. I know firsthand how a passion for these subjects can lead to a meaningful and rewarding life. Everyone at Monster joins me in honoring not only these terrifically talented FIRST Dean’s List winners and finalists, and also Dean Kamen himself, who has put so much time and effort into creating this fantastic FIRST program.”

Open to the public and free of charge, the 2013 FIRST® Championship is the culmination of the season's FIRST programs, bringing together three separate robotics competitions for the ultimate Sport for the Mind™. The event includes the FIRST Robotics Competition Championship, the FIRST Tech Challenge World Championship, and the FIRST LEGO League World Festival. Also featured is the Junior FIRST LEGO League World Festival Expo. Students will showcase the results of weeks of intense preparation, competing in thrilling matches and working on their robots in the "Pits."
