NEW YORK & PARIS--()--AIRTAG, the leading provider of Mobile Shopping Solutions, today announces a partnership with KFC UK & Ireland to launch the chain’s first ever mobile and web app for ordering and payments called “KFC Fast Track.” KFC is using AIRTAG’s Airshop Solution, which is an all in one package platform that enables proximity retailers to launch self-branded interactive mobile and web apps for advanced ordering and payments. Starting immediately, KFC will be piloting Airshop in ten restaurants across the UK which is a center for international trial and rollout of technology based solutions. The app is available for iPhone users and the web app is soon to be available for all connected devices.

The KFC Fast Track app comes equipped with advanced features for a seamless ordering experience: geolocation to easily locate the nearest KFC, mobile & web ordering and payment capabilities, a mobile check-in feature for in-store order recall and a customer account so users can store ordering history, favorite products and payment details for one click payments.

“Our customers lead increasingly busy lives and KFC Fast Track is focused on helping them order, pay for and collect their food faster than ever before, delivering a great experience throughout,” said Paul Borrett, IT Director of KFC UK & Ireland. “We look forward to working closely with AIRTAG and adding many more innovative features to KFC Fast Track in the coming months.”

The Quick and Simplified Customer Journey Snapshot:

  • Download the iPhone app in the app store
  • Select the closest or preferred ordering location from a geolocated list of KFCs with the service
  • Compile an order by selecting desired products and pay by credit card
  • After the order is paid for, check your device for a QR code and order confirmation number for order pick up at KFC.

KFC Fast Track users can pick up their order any time on the day an order is placed. Upon arrival at the selected ordering location, the user will do a mobile check-in to let KFC staff know they are present in the store. After doing the mobile check in, the user gets to skip the line and proceed directly to a unique checkout dedicated specifically to KFC Fast Track users. In the near future, KFC Fast Track will include geofencing so users can do the mobile check-in before even arriving at the restaurant.

KFC Fast Track will renew the ordering experience in a way that meets new consumer demands for efficiency onset by the increasing importance of multi-channel commerce shopping,” said Jérémie Leroyer, CEO and Co-Founder of AIRTAG. “We are very pleased to work with KFC in carving out a mobile presence that brings real value to end users and we are very excited for the program’s roll out.”

About KFC UK

KFC, the world's largest chain of chicken-based quick service restaurants, grew from the chicken business set up by Colonel Harland D Sanders in the 1950s. The Colonel had found a way to combine 11 herbs and spices with flour to create a unique taste, and to this day the secret recipe is only known to a handful of people. It is locked away in a vault in Louisville, Kentucky.

KFC came to Britain in 1965, with the first store opening in Preston, Lancashire, and there are now 850 stores across the UK, with over 24,000 employees.

KFC has made considerable nutritional improvements in the last few years, cutting salt by as much as 50% and switching cooking oils to cut saturated fat levels in Original Recipe Chicken by up to 25%. KFC has also expanded its range to include lighter options, such as the Rancher, KFC’s first non-fried product.

In 2012, KFC was voted Britain’s Top Employer, and the company has been named as a Great Place to Work for the last three years. The company places a big importance on developing people, and became the first restaurant company in the UK to launch an honours degree – a BA (Hons) Business Management course in conjunction with De Montfort University, Leicester. KFC also works with City & Guilds to provide Level 2 and Level 3 Apprenticeships to team members and team leaders.

KFC is also committed to benefiting the community, and uses its expertise at developing young people to work with some of the most disadvantaged young adults in the UK through a work experience partnership with Barnardo’s. The company also works to help the global community, and has raised over £4m for the United Nations World Food Programme in the last six years.

KFC UK, Inc is a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, Inc. (NYSE:YUM), which also owns the Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurants. For further information, please visit www.kfc.co.uk.
