CLEVELAND--()--Radisphere (www.radispheregroup.com), the leading cloud-based radiology services provider for hospitals and health systems, today announced the release of its Q4 2012 Quarterly Performance Scorecard. Radisphere’s Scorecard measures the performance of its radiology services relative to industry averages and its own stringent quality standards. By widely sharing these quarterly scorecards, Radisphere ensures the transparency of its quality standards and performance results. This is essential to establishing accountability for radiology quality in patient care.

The Q4 2012 Performance Scorecard shows that Radisphere exceeded traditional industry levels of performance for key radiology metrics such as Specialization, Diagnostic Accuracy, Critical Findings Communication and Turnaround Times. The Scorecard indicates that Radisphere continues to maintain its industry leading diagnostic accuracy rate of 99%. For eight quarters in a row, Radisphere has logged accuracy of 98.9% or greater. The Scorecard also reveals that Radisphere subspecialty radiologists read 22% of all patient cases and 96% of all MR cases. These performance measures are important in that they quantify the contribution of subspecialists in providing quality patient care.

In its Diagnostic Accuracy in Radiology publication, the Radiology Quality Institute reported the industry average error rate for all modalities is 4.4%. Radisphere’s error rate of 1.0%, determined through double-blind peer review of nearly three thousand randomly selected cases in Q4 of 2012, is more than 4 times lower than the industry average. Clinically significant error rate, a critical metric that typically is either not measured or not disclosed by radiology providers, illustrates the frequency with which radiologists make a diagnostic error with the potential to alter the patient’s treatment.

“We believe that radiology, like all healthcare, should be delivered against measurable quality standards,” said Scott Seidelmann, President and CEO of Radisphere. “Performance standards are essential for providers to establish accountability for patient care and continually improve the delivery of services.”

Radisphere’s Q4 Scorecard is available for download on the company’s website. For more information about Radisphere’s quality standards and programs, visit http://www.radispheregroup.com/quality.
