Hopkins-Area Family Dentist Dr. Scott Shamblott and Staff Donate Dental Treatment During Nationwide Event, Dentistry From the Heart, February 22, 2013

HOPKINS, Minn.--()--Dr. Scott Shamblott and the staff at Shamblott Family Dentistry will once again offer free dental care to the community and participate in the nationwide Dentistry From the Heart event, held February 22, 2013, from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Dentistry From the Heart is a one-day event where participating dentists offer free dental services to patients. Services provided include examinations, fillings and extractions.

"It all comes down to wanting to provide something greater to the local community," Dr. Shamblott said. "The services provided by Dentistry From the Heart helps more than just a patient's teeth. It gives people a renewed sense of hope, and a reason to smile."

In addition to Shamblott Family Dentistry, Lakeville Dental Associates in Lakeville will also participate in the Dentistry From the Heart event on the same day, with hours from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Dentistry From the Heart began in 2001 with one participating dentist in Tampa Bay. Since then, the program has grown to encompass over 250 events and dental offices. In 2011, it is estimated that the program has helped 30,000 or more people throughout the United States.

Dr. Shamblott was the first dentist in Minnesota to join Dentistry From the Heart when he hosted his first event in 2007. Last year, Shamblott Family Dentistry helped 93 patients and donated over $42,000 worth of dental services. Over the past six years, Dr. Shamblott estimates that his office has donated over $142,000 worth of total dental services as part of the Dentistry From the Heart event.

Dr. Shamblott and his staff will do whatever they can to fix dental problems and relieve pain. Patients who may need special treatment or ongoing care are referred to community clinics. Services provided during the Dentistry From the Heart event include a dental examination, fillings and extractions. Patients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 7:00 AM.

"Dentistry From the Heart offers so much more than dental care," said Dr. Shamblott. "It offers people hope."
