Rappel from Parmenter's Buildings to Help Raise Money for the Special Olympics

Parmenter Realty Partners Continues To Host More Rappelling Events in 2013 To Raise Funds For The Special Olympics

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Two days ago the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games started in PyeongChang, South Korea, inspiring hope for global acceptance and understanding. Parmenter Realty Partners is committed to building awareness for this cause, and since 2009 has been raising funds for the Special Olympics.

In 2009 Parmenter Realty Partners was one of the first building owners to team-up with Over the Edge, an outfitter that provides signature events for non-profit organizations in North America, to host a fundraising rappelling event at its SunTrust Center building in Richmond, VA. Participants were invited to pledge $5,000 USD in exchange for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to rappel off the side of the 26-story structure. This first event was considered great success and the program was rolled out on a yearly basis and extended to two other properties in Atlanta, GA and Nashville, TN.

“Our partnership with Over the Edge gave us an innovative way to raise money for the Special Olympics. We love the fact that we are able to use our buildings to raise money for such a worthy cause. To date the rappelling events have raised over $500,000 and we plan to continue this program in 2013 at our newer properties in Charlotte and Tampa,” said John Davidson, Managing Principal of Parmenter Realty Partners’ Southeast Region.

Every two years the Special Olympics Movement hosts its World Games, which alternate between summer and winter games. The World Games are flagship events for the Special Olympics Movement where thousands of athletes, coaches, volunteers and supporters attend to see and cheer the skills and accomplishments of the athletes. This year the Special Olympics World Games is taking place January 29 to February 5, 2013, in PyeongChang, South Korea.
