Whole Kids Foundation, PACT and Indiegogo Team Up to Fund “Urban Gardens Across America”

Give “green” to help build city gardens and receive urban garden-inspired organic apparel from PACT

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Whole Kids Foundation, PACT, and Indiegogo are teaming up to help build urban sustainable gardens across the U.S. that provide increased access to healthy food and empower adults and children to actively experience how food is grown -- from seed to plate. The “Urban Gardens Across America” campaign enables donors to fund the garden projects of their choice through the crowd-funding platform Indiegogo. Each garden will have its own campaign page, and Indiegogo will host a partner page housing all the individual garden campaigns.

To engage and inspire community support around the garden campaigns, each garden’s campaign will be led by a “PACTivist” who acts as an advocate to raise $2,500 for each garden. As an added incentive, PACT, a mission-driven organic apparel line, will also offer gifts from its new urban garden-inspired Spring/Summer 2013 collection for each $25 to $250 donation made online at http://www.indiegogo.com/partners/grdn from January 21 – February 28.

Whole Kids Foundation, a Whole Foods Market® foundation, will provide additional support for each garden, like online garden planning tools and organic seeds to help build or expand each urban garden.

"Whole Kids Foundation has seen firsthand the huge interest for community gardens, so we are excited to join such a creative initiative that will raise much needed funds and promote awareness about the importance of understanding where our food comes from," said Nona Evans, executive director for Whole Kids Foundation. "Gardening helps create a tangible experience that connects parents and kids to real food and helps inspires healthier eating habits."

To coincide with the launch of the Urban Gardens Across America campaign in January, select retailers throughout all 50 states and participating Whole Foods Market stores will debut the spring/summer PACT 2013 collection inspired by the colors and history of urban farms. The line of premium organic socks, tanks, t-shirts, leggings and underwear can also be purchased online directly at http://www.wearpact.com.

"We are excited to connect PACT with urban farms across the country and raise awareness of the importance of eating healthy foods," says Jeff Denby, owner of PACT. "Our Spring 2013 collection reflects our dedication to the urban farms movement from our Farm Stripes to our Blossom prints."

"We’re excited to be part of this one-of-kind partnership, where Whole Kids Foundation, PACT and Indiegogo are facilitating a national movement locally, by providing the expertise and platform for communities to collaborate and raise money for their own garden," said Danae Ringelmann, Co-Founder of Indiegogo. "It’s inspiring to know that a mission-drive foundation, brand and crowdfunding platform can not only do good together, but we can also empower people to take action and influence what happens in their local communities."
