FUMC Fort Worth Lights Christmas Eve Candles Early for Local First Responders

December 19 Service Offers Candles, Communion as Early Alternative

On December 19 at 7:00 pm in its spectacular downtown Fort Worth sanctuary, FUMC Fort Worth offers the beauty and magic of a Christmas Eve candlelight communion service a few days early to serve DFW's first responders, healthcare personnel, retail workers, and anyone else whose Christmas Eve schedule conflicts would otherwise prevent them from this special worship experience. FORT WORTH, Texas--()--Because work, travel and even conflicting family schedules can work their holiday wear on plans for a Christmas Eve worship experience, First United Methodist Church Fort Worth offers an alternative that can bring Christmas Eve home a few days early for Fort Worth families.

“We began the Traveler’s Christmas Eve service in 2011 not only for those traveling on Christmas Eve, but also for first responders, medical personnel, law enforcement, shift workers and anyone else who serve by working on Christmas Eve,” says Dr. Tim Bruster, Senior Pastor. “The service is essentially the same as our regular 7:00, 9:00 and 11:00 Christmas Eve services so that those who cannot attend on Christmas Eve will have the same experience. We invite everyone in the community to worship with us that evening.”

Last year’s service was so well received by its more than 160 attending that FUMC looks forward to an even fuller house this year. “For those who don’t think they will get to enjoy the quiet beauty of a traditional candle light Christmas Eve service due to work or other conflicts, this service offers a chance to find that moment of peace during the busy-ness of the holiday season,” says Linda McDermott, Senior Associate Pastor. “We are delighted to offer this service to not only our members, but to anyone who would like to, but couldn’t otherwise be with us on Christmas Eve.”

The FUMC Fort Worth Travelers Christmas Eve Service will be held at 7:00 pm in the main sanctuary at First United Methodist Church Fort Worth, 800 West Fifth Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76102. For more information, contact the church at 817/ 336-7277, or visit online at www.fumcfortworth.com.
