Sterling Phillips appointed CEO and President of US Investigations Services (USIS)

FALLS CHURCH, Va.--()--US Investigations Services, LLC (USIS), an industry leader in security consulting solutions and the largest commercial provider of background investigations to the federal government, announced today that Sterling Phillips has been appointed CEO and President of the company by its parent, Altegrity, Inc. He will report to Altegrity CEO Sharon Rowlands effective January 1, 2013.

Prior to joining USIS, Phillips served as CEO, President and Director of GTSI, an IT systems integration and services provider to federal, state and local governments. Phillips led a successful business turnaround at GTSI and oversaw rapid growth culminating in the June 2012 sale of the company to UNICOM Systems. He was a venture partner at FirstMark Capital from 2007 to 2010, and before that served for six years as Chairman and CEO of Analex Corporation, an intelligence, systems engineering and security services provider to government agencies.

At USIS, Phillips gains overall responsibility for the company’s Investigative Services Division and Global Security Solutions Division, comprising more than 6,000 employees worldwide. This dedicated, expert and scalable security-cleared workforce provides the government and commercial customers with the intelligence and information they trust to drive the most informed decisions. Earlier in his career, Phillips held senior positions in operations, sales and marketing at Federal Data Corporation, TRI-COR Industries and Computer Sciences Corporation. He began his career with a 24-year stint at IBM.
