MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BreathableBaby, the Minneapolis-based child safety products company, is pleased to announce their award winning Breathable Mesh Crib Liner is not included in the State of Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene adopted action prohibiting the sale of baby bumper pads beginning June 21, 2013. Maryland is the first state to make the sale of crib bumper pads illegal.

The approved regulation defines the banned product as:
“Baby bumper pads” means a pad or pads of non-mesh material resting directly above the mattress in a crib, running the circumference of the crib or along the length of any of the interior sides of the crib, and intended to be used until the age that an infant pulls to stand”.

The Mesh Crib Liner with SPT is a safer alternative to traditional crib bumper pads and has been evaluated, tested, and recommended by pediatricians. It provides an area of breathable, slightly cushioned, mesh fabric at 10 inches with a 1-inch fabric edge and is available for around $30. When the liner is compressed, it is virtually impossible to form an airtight seal.
