Pamplin Park Named Top Civil War Site

OUT OF 600 SITES, CIVIL WAR TRUST HONORS PAMPLIN PARK

PETERSBURG, Va.--()--The Civil War Trust named Pamplin Historical Park and The National Museum of the Civil War Soldier the Discovery Trail Site of the Year. The Civil War Discovery Trail is a network of more than 600 historic sites in 32 states. The recognition comes during the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, which many involved in Civil War and historic preservation see as an especially important time for reflection and remembrance. The Trust annually honors individuals and organizations nationally that show extraordinary dedication to preserving Civil War battlefields.

“In addition to its outstanding interactive exhibits that bring history to life for young visitors, with particular emphasis on the experiences of common soldiers, Pamplin has recently partnered with the Trust on joint-interpretive trails,” said Civil War Trust President Jim Lighthizer. “Pamplin Historical Park does an excellent job of interpreting history to people of all interests and backgrounds. It is an extraordinary example of one family’s lasting educational gift.”
