Let’s Get “Go-Daddy-Going” to Fight Type 1 Diabetes!

JDRF & Go Daddy Inviting You to Join Saturday’s “Walk to Cure Diabetes”

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--()--Go Daddy is inviting you to join thousands of children and families Saturday to walk, stroll or run - and have fun - when it returns as the title sponsor of the JDRF “Walk to Cure Diabetes.” Since 2007, Go Daddy has donated more than $1 million dollars to JDRF, an organization that works to fund type 1 diabetes research.

The walk starts Saturday at 7:30 a.m. at Tempe Town Lake. It’s one of the largest family-friendly events in Arizona and Go Daddy’s sixth consecutive year as title sponsor. More than 20,000 walkers are set to participate in the 5K event that helps JDRF create awareness about type 1 diabetes - a chronic disease that affects millions of children and adults.

“Go Daddy takes care of its customers and the community,” said Go Daddy employee Jason Swencki, whose 13-year-old son, Kody, has been coping with type 1 diabetes for seven years. “Our family walks every year to raise money and bring awareness to this life-changing battle. Not only will my son have his family there to support him Saturday – but thousands of others who, like Go Daddy, have a strong sense of responsibility to give back to the community will be there with us.”

Go Daddy customers are also making a difference by giving their support to JDRF in Go Daddy’s "Round Up for Charity" program. The Go Daddy Cares initiative gives customers the option to “round up” their purchase amount to the nearest dollar and donate the difference.

So far, Go Daddy customers have raised nearly $150,000 rounding up with their spare change for JDRF. “The kids living with this disease inspired me,” said Go Daddy customer Kate Martin, who owns KateMartinPhotography.com. “Go Daddy makes it easy to donate with the Round Up program. I know every little bit helps. Think about it, when everyone pitches in a little, it really adds up. Like so many of my friends and colleagues, I want to pitch in to make a difference by supporting a good cause like JDRF.”

Go Daddy, a one-stop shop for small businesses looking to succeed online, is expected to be one of the top fundraising teams at Saturday’s walk with more than 400 employees and family attending.

“Go Daddy’s tremendous support helps JDRF continue its critical work on diabetes research,” said JDRF Desert Southwest Chapter Executive Director Cindy Adams. “Go Daddy’s commitment as title sponsor of the walk the past six years and the generosity of their employees and customers has been remarkable. Go Daddy does more than write a check to support our cause … they come out in mass to show they care about making a difference in our community.”
