Chellomedia Selects Tvinci to Power Multi-Device Online Movie Service for Film1

TEL AVIV, Israel--()--Tvinci has today announced that its award-winning Online TV Platform has been selected by Chellomedia, the international content division of Liberty Global, Inc., to power an online movie service offering for Film1, the Dutch premium television service. The service, Film1 Go, will allow subscribers to enjoy Film1’s library of international movie content on a number of devices managed through the Tvinci back-end, including iPhone, iPad, Android smartphone/tablets and PC/Mac, with more devices to be added in the near future.

Film1 is currently available through both of The Netherlands' largest network operators: Ziggo and UPC Nederland, the DTH platform Canal Digital and various other operators. All subscribers to the Film1 service – which comprises five dedicated film channels (Film1 Premiere, Action, Family, Sundance, and Series) and an SVOD service – will have access to the online offering in the future. The expected launch for the service is in December 2012.

“The landscape is changing, and people are seeking new ways to discover content, consume it and interact with it, on any device. That’s why we are so pleased to work with Tvinci, whose expertise is helping us to bring the next generation of TV to Film1 subscribers,” said Jeroen Bergman, Managing Director, Chellomedia.

As the international content division of Liberty Global, Inc., the world’s leading international cable operator, Chellomedia produces and distributes 66 television channels internationally to more than 364 million TV households worldwide. Tvinci has provided Chellomedia with its multi-DRM solution, supporting Playready and Widevine, in order to maximize its device reach.

“With an already-established subscriber base, Film1 is perfectly positioned to leverage online TV, and create an even better value proposition for its viewers,” said Ofer Shayo, CEO, Tvinci. “We are delighted to work with Chellomedia to extend the Film1 service to consumers wherever they are and on any device they choose to consume it, and look forward to enabling further expansion of the service in the near future.”

At IBC 2012, Amsterdam, September 7-11, Tvinci showed the first OTT 2.0 platform, enabling truly personalized social TV on tablets, smartphones, connected TVs, STBs and web. The company presented some of its recent customer deployments, which were nominated for leading industry awards at IBC.
