Insyde® Software Strengthens UEFI Server Firmware Through Collaboration with the Intel® Datacenter and Connected Systems Group

Joint Working Model and On-site Resources Results in Faster Time to Market with a more Complete and Fully-tested InsydeH2O® UEFI BIOS for Intel Server Customers

IDF 2012 San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Insyde Software, an Intel Capital portfolio company and leading provider of Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) BIOS, announced today a collaborative working engagement with Intel’s Datacenter and Connected Systems Group, including the placement of permanent highly skilled engineering resources at Intel’s DuPont, WA based server lab.

With an engineering team on-site at Intel’s facility, Insyde Software has unique and early access to Intel silicon, early sample hardware platforms and the latest versions of Intel reference code. This collaboration allows Insyde to assist Intel in debugging the pre-release initialization code and provide real-time assistance in bringing up new hardware.

Insyde Software’s server customers benefit from this arrangement by receiving advanced InsydeH2O “EDK II style” UEFI BIOS simultaneously with the receipt of their evaluation hardware and including a more thoroughly tested and feature complete early release BIOS. EDK II is a modern cross-platform firmware development environment supporting the latest UEFI industry specifications.

“Insyde Software’s participation in this onsite BIOS development collaboration will help facilitate the integration of Intel technologies and reference code into Insyde’s server BIOS products,” said Dylan Larson, Xeon Platform Marketing Director in the Datacenter and Connected Systems Group at Intel. “Ultimately, it’s our OEM customers that will benefit with advanced product readiness, improved product efficiencies and faster time to market for these critical platform components.”

“Having early access to the Intel server hardware platforms and an opportunity to work collaboratively to bring up the boards for the first time gives us a head start and assurance that we can deliver complete UEFI firmware solutions to our mutual server customers sooner,” said Trevor Western, VP of server engineering. “We’re able to integrate and test Intel reference code within InsydeH2O weeks ahead of our previous development schedule.”
