Extend Health Joins New AARP Talent Exchange Designed to Match Companies with Professionals Aged 50+

Extend Health reaffirms commitment to hiring qualified professionals by participating in the “Work Reimagined” exchange powered by LinkedIn

SAN MATEO, Calif.--()--Extend Health, operator of the nation’s largest private Medicare exchange, reaffirmed its commitment to hiring qualified mature professionals by signing the AARP Work Reimagined pledge and participating in the first ever talent exchange for people aged 50+. The AARP Work Reimagined talent exchange, powered by LinkedIn, is located at www.workreimagined.org. For current Extend Health job openings, see the Work Reimagined site and the Extend Health online Careers center. Extend Health, a Towers Watson company, joins other major U.S. employers in this national effort to level the playing field for experienced workers.

“Extend Health has created more than 700 jobs this year alone for all Americans, including qualified professionals aged 50 years and older” said Bryce Williams, Towers Watson Managing Director of Extend Health. “Our customers are Medicare-eligible seniors 65 years and older, and we find that mature workers are a competitive advantage in our goal of helping our customers find private Medicare plans that meet their needs using our health insurance exchange.”

“All of our benefit advisors are licensed, well-trained and sensitive to the needs of older Americans making crucial decisions about health care,” said Joe Murad, head of operations for Extend Health. “Most of the people calling our service centers are over the age of 65 and for some of them, having someone closer to their own age answering questions as they choose Medicare coverage is comforting and gives them confidence. We also find that older workers are great mentors for our younger benefit advisors because of their experience in the workforce.”

The Extend Health workforce age averages in the 40s — as compared to most call centers, whose average age is in the 20s. With a workforce of over 1,000 benefit advisors — well-trained, licensed professionals who work with seniors to help them compare, select and enroll in private Medicare plans — mature workers bring a seasoned touch to helping Extend Health customers.

Some Extend Health benefit advisors have selected their own Medicare plans, and they bring a personal understanding of the complexity of the process and need for guidance customers have when making the critical decision about which Medicare plan to choose.

Extend Health benefit advisors work at two newly opened service centers in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, where a ribbon-cutting ceremony was hosted earlier this year, as well as in the Houston area and at a long-standing service center in South Jordan, Utah. Corporate headquarters for Extend Health are located in San Mateo, California.
