ILSI-Biomed 2012

TEL AVIV, Israel--()--Official delegations from 15 countries have arrived in Israel to take part in the ILSI-BioMed Israel 2012 conference and trade show, which will be held on May the 21st to 23rd in Tel–Aviv.

Invited as guests of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labour of Israel, these delegations include senior officers of various governmental bodies, renowned academy researchers and senior life sciences industry representatives. The countries which confirmed attendance include: Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, Denmark, Korea, Switzerland, Spain, China, Poland, the Czech Republic, Singapore, Canada and France.

The event, which is the second greatest one for life science industry bodies held outside the United States, will be opened by the President of Israel, Mr. Shimon Peres.

During more than ten years, the ILSI Week – "BioMed Israel 2012" – has become an international conference event, hosting the greatest (and the hottest) names of the world from the bio–technology, pharma and medical devices fields. Among the thousands of expected participants, including CEOs and senior functionaries of the Bio–Pharma and medical instrumentation companies, scientists and researchers, entrepreneurs, designers of public opinion acting in the field, venture capital fund managers and private investors, there will be more than 1000 visitors from around the world who will attend the conference as well.

Accompanying closely the Israeli Life Science industry for many years, Ms. Ruti Alon, a senior partner of the Pitango venture capital fund and Dr. Benny Zeevi, a managing partner of DFJ Tel–Aviv Venture Partners, the co–chairpersons of the BioMed Israel 2012 conference, said the 2000 to 2010 decade had been for the Israeli companies, the "industry incubation" period. "This is most certainly a young industry, but within the next decade," they estimate, "we will see more Israeli companies as they start to become mature. The Israeli life science industry is very competent and throughout the years – even through the worst ones – it has shown unprecedented flexibility. The economic crisis and slowdown have only taught people to think differently. The Israeli life science industry is only at the beginning of its journey," Ms. Alon and Mr. Zeevi add. "Up until now we have laid the foundations and paved the infrastructure. We have much to be proud of, and we have much to offer to the world."

The "ILSI – BioMed Israel 2012" will be held between May the 21st and May the 23rd in the David Intercontinental Hotel in Tel Aviv, Israel.
