MEMS Industry Group Explores Product Realization at Sensors Expo & Conference 2012

-- How are innovation and infrastructure moving MEMS into the mainstream?

Sensors Expo & Conference 2012
Booth #330

PITTSBURGH--()--MEMS Industry Group® (MIG), the industry organization advancing micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) across global markets, today reaffirmed its conference and exposition line-up for Sensors Expo & Conference 2012, the premier industry event in North America for designing sensors and sensor-integrated systems. Joined by leading member-companies, MIG will examine the forces behind the commercialization of MEMS through a pre-conference symposium, MEMS conference track, and MEMS Pavilion exhibition area on the show floor.

Pre-conference Symposium: MEMS in the Mainstream

As host of the MEMS Pre-conference Symposium on June 5, MIG and its member-companies will discuss the many models of achieving MEMS commercialization and product realization. “With double-digit annual growth, MEMS is clearly in the mainstream,” said Karen Lightman, managing director, MEMS Industry Group. “System-level customers can now rely on a MEMS infrastructure capable of delivering components more quickly and cost effectively than in the past. Our pre-conference symposium takes a deeper dive into what makes it all work: a mature, strong and robust MEMS ecosystem. I am proud that for a second consecutive year, MIG is playing a significant role in bringing this important message on MEMS to Sensors Expo.”

The MEMS Pre-conference Symposium speakers will include:

  • Moderators:
  • Speakers:
    • Thomas Gessner, PhD, professor, Fraunhofer ENAS
    • John Chong, PhD, director, product engineering, Kionix, Inc.
    • Tim Worst, chief technologist & general manager, Measurement-LTD, Sensor Technology Center
    • Craig Trautman, vice president, business development, Innovative Micro Technology
    • Jeffrey Perkins, president, Yole Inc.
    • Rob O’Reilly, senior staff engineer, Analog Devices
    • Carolyn White, PhD, associate, AM Fitzgerald & Associates
    • Jeanette Wilson, product line manager, Consumer and Industrial Sensors, Freescale Semiconductor
    • Peter Himes, vice president, marketing and strategic alliances, Silex Microsystems
    • James Clardy, principal engineer, emerging technologies strategist, Dell
    • Steve Whalley, director, Sensors, Intel Architecture Group, Intel
    • Jay Esfandyari, PhD, product marketing manager, STMicroelectronics

MEMS Conference Track

As chair of the MEMS conference track on June 6-7, MIG and its member-companies will delve into some of the product and technology innovations spurring the growth of MEMS.

“MEMS has become pervasive in today’s sensor-integrated systems," said Wendy Loew, group show director for Questex Media Group, LLC, producers of Sensors Expo. "Often used in combination with other types of sensors, MEMS delivers intelligent sensing for consumer electronics, biomedical and healthcare devices, automotive and other applications. Our partnership with MEMS Industry Group, as well as Karen Lightman’s role in our Sensors Advisory Council, allows us to explore MEMS in the kind of depth most appreciated by our attendees."

The MEMS conference track will include:

MEMS Pavilion Exhibition Area

MIG will sponsor and share an exhibition area on the show floor, showcasing some of the most exciting innovations in MEMS’ products and services. MIG’s booth is at #330; its co-exhibitors in the MEMS Pavilion include: Acuity, Inc., Advanced MicroSensors, Fraunhofer ENAS, Fraunhofer IPMS, MEMS Vision, Micralyne, OMRON Electronic Components LLC, Plures Technologies, Inc., SMART Commercialization Center for Microsystems, softMEMS, Tronics MEMS and Yole Développement.

About Sensors Expo 2012

Sensors Expo & Conference is the only industry event in North America exclusively focused on sensors and sensor-integrated systems, providing over 25 years of technical innovation and thought leadership. The event is widely known as one of the world's largest and most important gatherings of engineers and scientists involved in the development and deployment of sensor systems. Sensors Expo & Conference identifies the latest sensing technologies and strategies, explores them in an information-packed conference program, and reflects those trends throughout the Expo Floor with new product releases, key technology-focused areas, such as Big Data & Cloud, Energy Harvesting, MEMS and Wireless, and a showcase of hundreds of products and services. The Sensors Expo & Conference is produced and managed by Questex Media Group LLC, a global, diversified business-to-business integrated media and information provider, headquartered in Newton, MA.
