Guitar Control Announces Development of “Next-Generation” Guitar Video Games

Beyond Guitar Hero: What the Future May Hold For Guitar and Video Games

WAYNE, Pa.--()--Unless you've been living under a rock (no pun intended) for the last 7 years, you've no doubt heard of video games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band. These games provide a guitar-shaped game controller to simulate the actual experience of playing a guitar and rocking out with a band... Even if you never sat down and actually practiced the real instrument.

It's big business. Sales of such games are already in the billions of dollars.

Claude Johnson, president of Guitar Control, says: "The gaming market is just exploding right now. But I think a lot of people are tired of the typical 'Guitar Hero' type games. They want something fun and fresh. At the same time, real guitar playing is becoming more relevant. Big plastic buttons aren't as cool as they used to be."

Perhaps so. The latest novelty is the rise of similar games that use real guitars as controllers. So what's next?

Johnson predicts "The next trend will be a merging of traditional video games, but still using a real guitar. For example, you'll actually be playing notes to control your character in an action-type video game."

But what will this actually look like?

Guitar Control, an online-based instructional guitar company, already offers some simple games and software to supplement their guitar lessons. Customers can access these tools and games through a web browser. It's part of an online program they call "The Guitar God Club"

Developing the interactive guitar-controlled video games is the next slated endeavor for the company. Development of two next-generation games is nearing completion and users should expect to enjoy the release of these games by summer time.
