General Colin Powell to Keynote the Fifth Annual Ohio Diversity & Leadership Conference

COLUMBUS, Ohio--()--General Colin Powell will speak at the 5th Annual Ohio Diversity & Leadership Conference, on October 25-26 in Columbus. The event, hosted by the Ohio Diversity Council, will celebrate the best practices that initiate and fuel Ohio’s diverse leadership in the business world.

This year’s theme is “From Awareness to Action.” The goal of the conference is to highlight organizations that promote inclusion in the workplace.

“We are honored to have General Powell as keynote speaker at this year’s event,” said Dennis Kennedy, National Diversity Council Founder and CEO. “His career represents the principles of this conference – developing the leadership skills necessary to thrive under daunting circumstances.”

General Powell (RET.) has held senior military positions during four presidential administrations. He served as National Security Advisor for President Ronald Reagan and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton – becoming the youngest person and first African American and ROTC graduate to hold the prestigious position. Under President George W. Bush, he served as Secretary of State, leading the State Department in major efforts to address and solve regional and civil conflicts.

Over the course of the two-day conference, there will be 20 informative sessions given, of which the participants can choose five to attend. The session topics include: Latinos in Leadership: Growing Their Influence, Tools for Maximizing Your Leadership Potential, and Managing Four Generations in the Workplace. Awards will also be presented for DiversityFIRST™, Multicultural Leadership, and Ohio’s Most Powerful and Influential Women. Gale V. King, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Nationwide, will be honored as Ohio Woman of the Year.
