  • Effie Awards Honor the Most Effective Marketing Efforts of the Year
  • Tongue Cleaner Maker has Made Waves in the World of Social Media with a Series of Popular Online Videos and is the Third Most-Subscribed Sponsor Channel on YouTube
  • Orabrush Joins Other Household Brands on Shortlist in the Beauty Products and Services Category

PROVO, Utah--()--Orabrush today announced the company has been selected as a finalist for the 2012 North American Effie Awards, a prestigious recognition honoring the most effective marketing communications ideas and known by advertisers and agencies globally as the pre-eminent award in the industry. Orabrush, which has created a patented tongue cleaner and first-of-its-kind tongue foam, joins recognizable brands John Frieda, Kellogg’s Special K, and Old Spice on the Beauty Products and Services category shortlist.

Orabrush has developed and executed a highly successful online marketing campaign featuring a series of humorous and informative YouTube videos. Currently, Orabrush has the third most subscribed to sponsor channel on YouTube, behind only Apple and Old Spice, and has more than 46 million channel views. This successful marketing campaign helped the company grow from an online-only offering to availability at more than 20,000 retail outlets worldwide. Orabrush’s unique take on marketing, which the company calls the “Reverse Marketing Model,” has been recognized as one of the top online video campaigns by a number of publications including Mashable, Inc. magazine and Advertising Age, and the tongue cleaner was named one of the 10 products to watch for in 2012 by USA Today.

“We make ads we want to see ourselves. When I was growing up I never imagined I would be selling tongue cleaners. Even if I could have imagined it, I wouldn't have been able to fathom that we would be considered for an Effie while doing it,” said Jeffrey Harmon, CMO of Orabrush. “It is fun to see our little company on the same list as the companies we used to read about in textbooks. It just goes to show how quickly communication is changing. Big changes in communication always level the playing field and give opportunities to little guys like Orabrush.”

Effie finalists are selected based on scores after a rigorous first round of judging in cities across the United States and Canada. Finalist status signifies the marketing campaign is among the most effective examples of how brands successfully connect with their customers.
