Constellation Energy to Supply Renewable Energy Certificates to Rhode Island Manufacturers and Award Winners at Annual Gala

BALTIMORE--()--The Rhode Island State House goes green on Saturday, Nov. 5 for the second year at the Rhode Island Manufacturers Association's (RIMA) 10th annual fundraising gala, A Golden Moment for Rhode Island Manufacturing. The gala will showcase the many success stories that local manufacturers have to tell, despite the challenging economic climate.

Constellation Energy (NYSE: CEG), the endorsed energy supplier for RIMA, will supply Green-e Energy certified renewable energy certificates (RECs) from wind energy to match 100 percent of the estimated electricity used at the State House event. RECs give developers of renewable energy a market-based, financial incentive to build wind, solar and other forms of renewable energy.

Constellation will also commemorate the 10th gala by retiring 10 Green-e Energy certified RECs from wind energy facilities on behalf of each of the four award recipients honored during the gala. Recipients include: The Cooley Group, which will be honored with the esteemed Commitment to Manufacturing Award presented each year in memory of John Hazen White; Grafton “Cap” Willey of CBIZ Tofias, who will receive the Manufacturing Advocacy Award; FarSounder, Inc., which will be honored as the Innovative Manufacturer of the Year; and Blow Molded Specialties, which will receive the Small Business Commitment to Manufacturing Award.

The RECs donated for the gala and to the award recipients will avoid approximately 54,810 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions.

“We are excited to celebrate our 10th annual gala with a green venue and renewable energy certificates for award members,” says John Grady, executive director for the Rhode Island Manufacturers Association. “We are pleased to highlight the importance of green, renewable energy, which aligns with RIMA’s commitment to sustainability.”

“RECs are just one example of the sustainability options that Constellation Energy provides to the Rhode Island Manufacturing Association’s members,” says Stephen Fabiani, vice president of sales for Constellation Energy. He noted Constellation will outline additional energy services for RIMA members at a seminar in December about an incentive program that encourages energy conservation during times of peak demand.

Organizations may use RECs to reduce their indirect greenhouse gas emissions and help support the operation and development of domestic sources of cleaner, renewable energy.
