Zions Bancorporation Leverages Zettaset’s Security Data Warehouse to Manage Big Data

  • One of Nation’s Largest Banking Organizations Utilizes Zettaset’s Innovative Security Data Warehouse to Aggregate, Analyze Exceptionally Large Volumes of Data
  • Flexible, Cost-effective Zettaset Solution Enhances Security, Fosters Effective Data Sharing and Collaboration among Multiple Departments to Protect against Fraud, Theft and Other Threats
  • Ease of Integration a Significant Consideration in Adopting Zettaset’s Solution

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--()--Zettaset today announced that Zions Bancorporation, one of the largest banking organizations in the United States, will leverage Zettaset for its Security Data Warehouse (SDW). The SDW enhances companies’ ability to process exceptionally large quantities of data for multiple purposes, including superior fraud prevention.

“Information security is a paramount focus for Zions, and we are continually looking at ways to automate the process while enhancing the results. With Zettaset, the performance of the system made the purchasing decision relatively easy,” said Preston Wood, chief security officer of Zions Bancorporation.

Zettaset’s innovative enterprise solution empowers Zions Bancorporation to quickly and effectively aggregate enormous quantities of data – up to the multi-petabyte level. Once data is centralized and normalized, analysts benefit from visual evidence of anomalous behavior, which are often leading indicators for fraud, theft or misuse of internal resources. These leading indicators are then analyzed and monitored/mitigated with point-products that make up the balance of the SDW ecosystem.

Zettaset’s SDW allows Zions Bancorporation to aggregate and mine a wide range of data from a broad array of sources – from firewalls and security devices to various business transactions. The Zettaset platform – built on Hadoop, Hive, Pig and other high-volume open-source technologies – also enables Zions Bancorporation to mine long term data along with current information, so they can successfully detect and mitigate sophisticated threats.

“Zettaset’s solution enabled us to get up and running quickly, while its powerful data engine empowers us with the ability to rapidly aggregate and mine enormous quantities of data from diverse sources so we can recognize and more quickly deal with potential security threats,” Wood said.

“We are honored that one of the nation’s largest, most security-minded banking organizations has chosen to trust Zettaset’s platform to protect its most crucial information and assets, together with those of its customers,” said Brian Christian, CEO of Zettaset. “Since our founding, one of our goals has been to demonstrate to the risk management community as a whole a new way to mitigate risk. Our partnership with Zions is an example of that leadership.”

In addition, Zions Bancorporation expects its data storage requirement to increase significantly. Zettaset’s platform enables Zions Bancorporation to easily scale its security data warehouse at a reasonable cost, and to more effectively utilize its existing information technology infrastructure.
