Database101.com Responds to Lawsuit Filed by Infogroup

OMAHA, Neb.--()--Database101.com is a leading provider of sales leads to salespeople and small business owners. The company has recently become aware of a lawsuit filed against Database101.com by Infogroup.

Our founder, Vin Gupta was also the founder of Infogroup. He started Infogroup with $100 over 35 years ago. He built the company from zero into a worldwide business with over $800 million in sales. He also created over 1800 new jobs in Nebraska. Since Gupta left Infogroup, approximately 900 people have lost their jobs at Infogroup. Many of the people hired by Database101.com are people laid off from Infogroup.

The company feels strongly that the Infogroup allegations are wholly without merit. For example, Infogroup alleges that Database101.com has hired former Infogroup employees. However, Infogroup recently hired Database101’s top software engineer and even issued a press release about it that specifically referenced Database101.com, even though the engineer is bound by a confidentiality agreement he signed with Database101.com.

In addition, since the inception of Database101.com, over 2,000 times, employees of Infogroup have bombarded the company’s websites—as documented by Google analytics under the infoUSA ISP (Internet Service Provider) address.

Gupta is an expert in sophisticated market segmentation techniques he learned at the University of Nebraska Business School. He used that technique in finding millions of potential customers at Infogroup. In fact, Gupta was the Chief Architect of Marketing and Sales Strategy at Infogroup. Gupta does not have any non-compete agreement with his former company. He is using his same education in his new venture to reach out to millions of potential customers through direct mail, radio, TV, digital marketing and other media.

Concerning TJ Hyman, Database101’s Vice President of the Enterprise Division, he is a commission-based salesman in California. According to the company’s records, Hyman didn't have any non-compete with his former employer, nor did he bring any confidential information with him. He is entitled to make a living and support his family by selling the company’s services in his territory.

The company plans to defend this suit vigorously in the courts of law, and continue to create jobs for hundreds of people in Nebraska.
