SAN FRANCISCO--()--Aiming to bring power and profit to artists, startup BAMM.tv today unveiled a turnkey digital music video service that provides free live performance video production, global distribution and payments for emerging bands and musicians. BAMM.tv connects artists, service providers and audiences worldwide through a global content distribution network that delivers fresh music video content from hot new artists to the web, mobile devices and television. BAMM.tv gives device makers and service providers a highly differentiated music offering while giving artists absolutely free video content creation, an instant global audience, and a new way to make money.

“The music industry is due for much further disruption, but this time it will be about artists getting paid,” said Chris Hansen, co-founder and chief executive officer of BAMM.tv. “It’s nearly impossible for new bands to monetize content effectively online–in fact 96% of the money being made in digital music is going to only one-fifth of the world’s artists. We’re tipping the scale in the other direction with a new path to profit for artists, while offering our distribution network partners a highly differentiated music service, global licensing and highly sticky, shareable content.”

Mr. Hansen will be discussing BAMM.tv in an interview today at San Francisco’s SF Music Tech Summit, and the company will be demonstrating its digital services and meeting with interested partners at TechCrunch Disrupt, also in San Francisco beginning today through September 14. BAMM.tv will also be celebrating its launch at a special exclusive launch event for partners and press in its San Francisco studios on September 29, where they will record live performances of fast-rising national acts The Stone Foxes and Infantree. Local media, artists and companies interested in BAMM.tv are all welcome to RSVP.

Major Global Network Partners include Samsung, Chunghwa Telecom

BAMM.tv disrupts the traditional music industry business model with its worldwide digital content distribution network that enables emerging artists to earn money by connecting with global audiences. This growing network is made up of more than a dozen technology partners already reaching more than 150 countries, including wireless and broadband service providers and leading digital device makers. Samsung, Chungwa Telecom, Taiwan’s largest telco provider, and Fuugo-TV, an integrated TV and mobile platform based in Finland are among the companies partnered with BAMM.tv at launch.

Samsung will feature BAMM.tv’s innovative mobile and tablet application for discovering and sharing new music videos on its Android-based devices including the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy S2 smartphones, and on other mobile devices later this year. Other services already featuring BAMM.tv content around the globe include Select-TV, an IPTV provider servicing luxury hotels throughout Asia, and India’s MunduTV, a live TV app for PCs and mobile phones that has reached over four million downloads. Additionally, BAMM.tv licenses audio and video content to partners and advertisers for commercial use. An iOS app is expected later this year.

How BAMM.tv Works – Global Digital Distribution and Profit Sharing for Artists

BAMM.tv’s end-to-end music content creation solution and global licensing approach creates brand new economic opportunities and incentives for the entire music ecosystem. BAMM.tv curates the top emerging artists across many popular genres including international acts, and produces high-quality HD performance videos in their San Francisco sound studios and at music festivals around the world, as well as interviews and behind-the-scenes video content. BAMM.tv intends to open more studios in other cities in 2012. In return for the completely cost-free production and digital video editing, BAMM.tv receives a global license to distribute and monetize the content. The artist retains all of the copyrights, publishing and composition royalties associated with the underlying work.

The video content is fed into BAMM.tv’s fast-growing content catalog which powers a suite of owned and partner applications (for mobile and tablet devices), TV services (pay-per-view content localized in many countries), ad-supported web streaming and more. BAMM.tv and its partners deliver rich new music discovery and video sharing experiences that music fans will love, and from which both artists and partners can make meaningful profit. BAMM.tv channels 50% of its net profits back to its artists through a fair share arrangement that benefits the entire music ecosystem.
