ScaleXtreme Introduces Support for OpenStack and Citrix Project Olympus

Demonstrates company's commitment and support for emerging open cloud standards, expands customers’ cloud options

PALO ALTO, Calif.--()--ScaleXtreme, Inc., the leading cloud-based systems management company, today announced support for the emerging OpenStack standard, as well as support for the upcoming OpenStack-based cloud infrastructure product from Citrix code named Project Olympus. With this support, customers will now have the ability to provision and manage servers on OpenStack-based virtualization systems in the public cloud, private cloud, or in hybrid deployments with systems spanning both public and private clouds. Customers can go to http://www.scalextreme.com/register and set up a free account to use this new capability.

ScaleXtreme enables both provisioning of new machines across multiple clouds and management of those machines throughout the machines’ lifecycle – including configuration management, inventory management, and task automation. In addition, OpenStack-based cloud servers can be managed just like internal virtual or physical machines – all through a single pane of glass hosted in the cloud.

“We are committed to supporting industry standards that help drive open cloud computing environments. The OpenStack community is a strong example of an industry initiative focused on helping to make the cloud a reality, so ScaleXtreme is pleased to offer its support to this effort,” said Nand Mulchandani, CEO of ScaleXtreme. “ScaleXtreme already provides the widest range of support for cloud provider connectivity, and adding support for OpenStack further broadens the range of options for customers. In addition, we already offer a way to manage servers running across multiple providers, geographies, and virtualization platforms and will continue to provide the widest range of support for cloud platforms.”

"More enterprises than ever are looking to shape their internal infrastructure capacity into a cloud platform using leading open source technologies like Xen and OpenStack,” said Sameer Dholakia, Group VP & GM, Cloud Platform product group at Citrix Systems. “Critical to the success of cloud adoption in the enterprise is the ability for users to access and manage their cloud infrastructure just like they would any other server resource in the company. ScaleXtreme is one provider that does this today.”

ScaleXtreme’s support of OpenStack follows last month’s announcements of the company’s support for cloud servers at Amazon EC2 and those at VMware vCloud® Powered service providers. ScaleXtreme intends to continue announcing support for emerging cloud platforms to ensure its customers have the broadest choice available.
