CREW: Congress Should Hold Hearings on News Corp.

WASHINGTON--()--The families of 9/11 victims, as well as a bipartisan group of members of Congress, are demanding a full investigation into the actions of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) Executive Director Melanie Sloan issued the following statement:

“In an era when politics can be so toxic, it is encouraging to see members on both sides of the aisle stand with CREW to demand an investigation into Rupert Murdoch and News Corp. 9/11 was one of the darkest days in American history. The families of those murdered deserve to know if a profiteer sought to exploit their tragedy for financial gain. The question is: What do News Corp. executives, including Rupert Murdoch and Les Hinton, know about hacking into the voicemail of Americans and when did they know it? Like the tobacco company CEOs before him, it is time for Murdoch to stand before the United States Congress, raise his right hand and explain News Corp’s conduct to the American people.”
