Emulex Delivers High-Performance I/O Connectivity for Cisco UCS C-Series and MDS Fibre Channel Switches

Emulex LightPulse® 8Gb/s Fibre Channel HBAs Provide Comprehensive Management and Interoperability Across Cisco Servers and Switches

Cisco Live 2011

LAS VEGAS--()--Today at Cisco Live, Cisco’s annual IT and communications conference, Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX), the leader in converged networking solutions, announced that its LightPulse® 8Gb/s Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) supports Cisco UCS C-Series Rack-Mount Servers and MDS Fibre Channel switches. The Emulex LPe12002-M8-C 8Gb/s Dual Channel Fibre Channel HBA (Cisco PID N2XX-AEPCI05) connects Cisco UCS C-Series servers to third party Storage Area Network (SAN) solutions and is also qualified for use with MDS Fibre Channel switches.

"Emulex LightPulse HBAs deliver maximum throughput, on both channels, for optimum server performance and power and cooling efficiency," said Shaun Walsh, vice president of marketing, Emulex. "Our LightPulse and OneConnect I/O connectivity solutions now support a broad spectrum of Cisco solutions, including the Nexus and MDS switch families, making Emulex the connectivity solution of choice for Cisco users."

Emulex LightPulse 8Gb/s Fibre Channel HBAs offer the throughput, scalability, and reliability necessary for I/O intensive applications and high-density virtual server environments. Key features include:

  • Maximum Fibre Channel Performance: Better dual-port scalability provides the highest data throughput on both channels for optimum server performance and power and cooling efficiency.
  • Simplified Server Virtualization with vCenter: OneCommand™ Manager for VMware vCenter lets users manage adapters directly from the vCenter console for reduced complexity and is the only adapter that integrates with VMware management tools.
  • Green I/O: Emulex LightPulse Fibre Channel HBAs operate up to 20 degrees cooler than competitors’ HBAs and cooler operating temperatures correlate directly to higher HBA reliability and reduced power requirements.
  • Exclusive End-to-End Data Integrity with BlockGuard™: Emulex is the first manufacturer to support the T10 PI standard which is designed to eliminate silent data corruption as data traverses the system from the operating system all the way to the storage array, for true end-to-end data protection.
  • Common Management and Drivers with Emulex OneCommand™: By sharing a single driver model, Emulex I/O solutions can be controlled, configured and managed from a single console. Consolidated management capabilities enable enterprise scalability with time-saving features that provide more than twice the management capabilities in half the time compared to other I/O solutions.

The Emulex LightPulse and OneConnect™ families of adapters are also available across a wide portfolio of Cisco solutions, including the Cisco Nexus family of unified fabric switches.

Emulex is exhibiting at Cisco Live this week, July 11-14, in Las Vegas, Nevada, in booth #651.
